?What is the story behind this building
It used to be just a regular building then we taken apart an actual one-hundred years house from Thailand, shipped overseas and put the parts back together including the walls, doors and the windows
?Who are the people in the photograph
They are the current King Bhumipol and Queen Sirikit of Thailand and the royal family. Some are portraits of when they were young. The King is now 85 and the Queen is 80.
?Is the upstairs and downstairs the same restaurant
?What is the difference between upstairs and downstair
Yes, They are the same restaurant. Upstairs is our dining room for more of a fine dining, family dining and downstairs is the lounge for more casual dinner with some drinks and it's where we have happy hour from 5-7pm and 11pm - close. Both serve the
same full menu.
?Do I need reservation
Reservation is recommended for the dining room, if you don't like to wait for a table. However, in the Lounge, it’s open seating and you can sit anywhere you like.
Why is Pad Thai at May Restaurant so different than other restaurant?
We take pride in presenting you the most authentic Pad Thai you'll ever find. Some even say it's more authentic than Phad Thai in Thialand. We don't take short cuts or leave any ingredients out.
We make our sauce from scratch from tamarind itself. We don't use any katchup or tomato sauce to make it red. We don't even use can sauce. So, you can taste the freshness of tamarind flavor itself. Plus we served our Pad Thai with spices, sugar (yes, just a little bit to balance the flavor between the tanginess of the lime juice, the saltiness of the fish sauce, and the bitterness from the banana flower), and fresh ground peanut on the side. We also served with Banana Blossom on the side. But don't worry, if you dine in at the restaurant, we'll mix all these up for you tableside according to your own taste.
What is Banana Blossom?
Banana Blossom or Banana Flower is the flower from the banana plant.
And it's were bananas are from. White part of the flower is edible.
I've had Pad Thai, is there anything else I should try?
Our curries like Red and Green curry is also home-made from scratch. Again, we don't use already made curry paste in a jar. Blending all different kind of the herbs and spices together gives you the fresher taste, so there's no preservative and it's all natural.
Your Swimming Rama also looks a little different?
Yes, our version of the Swimming Rama is also the authentic Thai style with watercress sometimes called water spinach or morning glory, instead of spinach. Peanut sauce is again all homemade from scratch (sorry, not from peanut butter) We add real herb and fresh ingredients like lemon gress and
chilies. We even put the real peanuts in.
